Six Months Old

Can you believe it? I am now six months old. I'm eating cereal and vegetables. I play with all my toys. Of course they all go in my mouth. I have two teeth and am the cutest little guy in the world.

Meeting the Cousins

Sorry it's been a while since I've updated any pictures. I thought this picture said it all about Jack's stay with us in December! He was a little unsure of his big cousins, but by the end I think he was enjoying their LOUD company!

I can't believe he is already 5 months old. We miss you, Jack and Liz...and Betty!!!

JJ's Decked Out for the Superbowl

It worked for the Red Sox so I wanted to make sure the Patriots had the same big guy rooting for them.

New England visit

The visit was short and sweet. Here's a couple pics of the little bugger with his Uncle Jeremy and Mark...notice the little rock and roll sign with the hand. Daddy would be proud.

Happy New Year

I'm looking forward to this New Year and all the things I will learn to do. Last year at Christmas I had the opportunity to meet my Aunt's and Uncle's and C ousin's and a lot of other people. Boy was it cold up North. Love to you all.

What a baby

This is Jack Nov. 11, 2007. Sorry I didn't post sooner. I think he's just the greatest baby. I was fortunate enough to visit with Liz and Jack (and Betty) for a few days in November and I really hated to leave. I'm fairly certain that I cried halfway to Jacksonville Airport when I left. I wish I could have stayed longer. I think Jack kind of likes me. Ha ha. I mean really, look at how he's smiling at me and my camera. In reality, I think he had had just about enough of me and my camera by the time I left; I probably stuck it in his face a thousand times. Lucky for him, I hate using a flash, or else he'd probably still be blinking. I took him for a walk around the neighborhood, hoping to have some one-on-one conversation with him, but he fell asleep before we reached the end of the driveway. Well, at least I had some one-way conversation. :) Lizzie, if you ever read this, I love you lots and can't wait to see you again. Talk to you soon. Love Kellie

Welcome John James Sappet IV

As many of you know, Liz has been blessed with a healthy baby boy, John James, born on September 11, 2007. He was born at 8:36pm, weighed 8 pounds even, and was 20 inches tall. Both mom and baby are doing great!

Thank you for the many prayers and positive thoughts for both Liz and the baby. Keep those coming. Many of you have asked what she needs at this time. Thanks to so many friends, family and coworkers, she is equipped with loads of baby clothes, a carseat, a pack and play, a bouncy seat, a crib, bath items, grooming items, and much more!

Keep sending your love and support! We'll keep you updated.

Happy Birthday John

In Mark's eulogy to John, he asked us to remember John by going out and making a difference. Together with my mother-in-law, Jeremy and Vicki, we have created Team Sappet for the Jimmy Fund Marathon walk on September 16, 2007. Please join our team and help raise money for the Dana Farber Cancer Research Institute. Walk the full 26.2, 13.1, 5, or even 3 miles. Every step is a step closer to a cure. Everybody is welcome to join!

Memorial Arrangements

Now we have added the details for the gathering after the gravside ceremony. I would like to thank Sherri, Ken and Tom for taking care of this. Peace. I apologize to all of you that have been checking the blog with no updates but there hasn't been anything before today to update you with.

The arrangements have been made and will be on Saturday August 4th. They will start with a mass at 11 AM in Bolton at St. Francis Xavier (where JJ and Tom were alter boys) then there will be a graveside service at St Michael's Cemetery in Hudson where JJ will be buried with his grandfather. We will have a hall with food and drink to which we all hope you come to. This will be posted as soon as we figure it out.

If you could just let me know if you hope to attend (if you already have you're all set) I would appreciate it - we can use it for a head count for food. mdilling@zygo.com

I love this picture of JJ and my cousin Andrea and if you look at him for even a split second you know why - because this is how we want to remember him. That smile unforgettable, that laugh unmistakable, rock on John.

John James Sappet III August 19, 1969 - July 18, 2007

Johnny peacefully left us this morning at home with his wife and brother by his side.

For those of you learning about JJ's death here for the first time we offer our apologies for the impersonal medium. I have faith in your understanding though, because if you know JJ enough to check this blog you will realize how difficult it would be to personally contact all the people he touched throughout his life.

Services and an after party to share stories and pictures will be held in central Massachusetts. They will take place on a Saturday to make it easier for you to join us. Presently we think this will happen Saturday August 4th. The location and a confirmed date will be posted here once the arrangements have been finalized. I ask you to email me at mdilling@zygo.com if you hope to make the memorial so that we may plan accordingly.

As painful as this experience has been since mid-February I will be forever grateful for many things as I believe most closest to JJ would concur. First and foremost I will forever be grateful for, and in awe of, Liz Sappet. The strength, grace and openess with which she handled her husband and his illness will forever be inspirational to us all.

Thanks to everyone who took the time to send cards, pictures, well wishes and prayers. It's unfortunate that you will never truly know just how much comfort it brought him. The outpouring of love amazed him every morning when he woke up to see all the cards Liz had hung for him.

There are people who you meet that make an impact on your life. Sometimes the impact is significant and you become close for a year or two.
Then there are people you meet that change your life and your perspective of it forever regardless how often you see them.

May you rest in peace our friend. We love you dearly and will miss you sorely.

Much Love,
Mark
